Mandate For Wellness
As the COVID-19 pandemic continues, we are witnessing a second pandemic of people across all socio-economic and cultural strata suffering from stress, anxiety, depression, uncertainty, insomnia, loneliness and sadly in record numbers, suicidal ideation. Who doesn’t feel frustrated, angry, confused or frightened by the current state of affairs wherein our freedom of mobility, sociability, and economy has been severely compromised?
A recent article published in Alternative and Complementary Therapies, Dec 2020. pp. 219-227, one of my favorite integrative health journals, reports: “Millions of people around the globe have turned to mind/body therapies — with many of those encounters occurring virtually — for relief. As the pandemic lingers on, the implications for the future in terms of the increased use of mind/body therapies are manifold”.
BaumanWellness.com offers a way for people from diverse backgrounds to participate in a community of practice that provides a grass root solution to the universal crisis affecting humanity, the failure to envision and implement a mandate for wellness for all. Community provides authentic social support and skills training to enable people, families and organizations address feelings of stress, anxiety, and depression; lessen feelings of loneliness and isolation; and learn to cope with the
ongoing challenges of creating meaningful and rewarding personal and social reality.
Current and emerging research is demonstrating that wellness practices such as eating well, mindfulness, meditation, yoga, community learning and service help vulnerable people — which is all of us — to cope, calm, center, regain balance and build resilience individually and within our circles of influence. Let’s say adios to suffering of 2020 and welcome 2021 with strong intention to reconnect with nature, community and joy.
