Our History

It all begins with an idea. Institute for Educational Therapy, (IET) doing business as Bauman Wellness, is a California non-profit corporation, incorporated on April 23, 1984. It has received its IRS 501(c)3 issuance letter on October 30, 1984.

From 1989 to 2020, IET ran Bauman College, which is committed to individual and collective healing through quality education in integrative health. National Holistic Institute announced the acquisition of Bauman College from IET in June, 2020.

We appreciate your support as we transform towards being a self-sustaining, service-oriented, community wellness non-profit member of the community.

IET is overseen by a board of five directors, including three independent board members.

Bauman Integrative Wellness

The wellness of the whole is far greater than the sum of the parts.

Bauman Integrative Wellness courses guide students to learn and practice the five core principles of wellbeing: food, movement, mindfulness, relationship, and service. Founded by Dr. Ed Bauman, and based on Dr. B’s decades of teaching, research and thought leadership, our aim is to identify areas of conflict and dis-ease that can be resolved with group intelligence and engagement. Our programs integrate social emotional arts for creative expression, as well as justice, equity, diversity, and inclusion (JEDI) for diverse community collaboration.

Over 80% of disease comes from poor diet and lifestyle: stacking up decades of being overstressed, undernourished, sedentary, toxic, and lacking meaningful community. Our approach is to teach students how to make conscious diet and lifestyle choices. We offer physical, mental, and creative arts exercises to strengthen and align body, mind and spirit. The Bauman Integrative Wellness approach is to connect people to their authentic self, and to a community of belonging where they are valued. Integrative wellness is a vehicle to promote social well-being and transformation.

Our flagship course is Ways to Be Well: Tools for Healing. This 12-hour course, taught online or in-person, demonstrates to students how to work five nourishing and restorative wellness practices into their daily routines. Integrated with social emotional arts for creative expression, these tools help students to manage stress, adapt to change, and stay well during cycles of turbulence and transformation. In our advanced Facilitator Training, students learn the tools and skills to lead courses themselves, bringing healing to an even wide audience.

Success is achieved when multiple, proven wellness practices work in synergy to provide exponentially greater results than one alone.
