Affordable Nutrition for Families: Eating Well on a Budget

Saturdays, April 1, 15, 29 and May 13
10:00am - 11:00am PT

Today, as many as two-thirds of our population either doesn’t know how to cook or prefers to purchase prepackaged convenience food with significant dollar and health costs (Hyman, 2018, Food Revolution Summit). The pivot toward wellness is for folks to shift their food focus from relying on pre-made, poor quality packaged and take out food, to home made fresh, local, seasonal foods, seasoned with herbs, spices and love.

Affordable Nutrition is an interactive course to inspire and guide people of all ages, backgrounds, and culinary skills on the art and economy of sourcing, preparing, and sharing fresh, local, culturally relevant, healing food. The Affordable Nutrition full color e-book provides a series of lessons with learning objectives, plus unique Eating for Health™ inspired articles, charts, and recipes that a nutritionist or health coach can reproduce for students and clients and consumers can print and share with friends and family members wanting to eat well to manage chronic health conditions.

For each lesson, we will present a food, herb, and tea of the day, with a keynote recipe that we will demonstrate and discuss in class with a cost breakdown and nutrition benefits. Our aim is to bring back the joy of cooking the foods you like that are good for you at home. It’s gotten too expensive to eat our as often as many of us do. It’s a joy when participants share family stories along with shopping and cooking discoveries. Whether you are a traditional family with growing children, or someone cooking for parents, partners, colleagues or just yourself, you will love being in the kitchen with our Affordable Nutrition facilitators. Learning how to feed ourselves and others is a key to building resilience and community.

The Artist Within: Awakening Creative Expression

Mondays, April 10 and 24 and May 8 and 22, 2023
12:00pm - 1:00pm PT

Learn to engage in creative play to awaken and ignite your inner artist, contributing to physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.

The Artist Within explores the modalities of visual arts, creative movement, music, expressive writing, media arts and social justice arts.

Studies show that spending just 30 minutes or more each day on arts activities relieves stress, decreases feelings of loneliness, lowers depression and anxiety, encourages creative thinking and increases greater life satisfaction.

Because the arts are uniquely capable of enhancing positive emotions, we build agency and resilience in the discovery of something we can do to feel better.

Bauman Wellness offers partial scholarships based upon need and a desire to bring The Artist Within and  Integrative Wellness Solutions to diverse communities, schools, clinics, churches and the workplace.  Contact info@baumanwellness.co for more information.
