Good food, bad food, brain food, and green food. What’s the “right” food to be feeding my child?
In our recent conversations with parents we’ve noticed they are often seeking healthy food options that their kids will eat. The parents go on to say, “I’ll be happy as long as they're eating healthy.” We know that learning to cook and eat well is an important practice, but just as learning to read takes time and effort, learning to eat and feed yourself and your family in a supportive way doesn’t come overnight. What does eating "healthy" look like for your family? Less sugar? More vegetables? Eating the rainbow? Variety? Simpler food? Spicier food? Autonomy for my child? More protein? Antioxidants?
If Dr. Seuss was answering he would say Green Eggs and Ham!
We say, it depends on your family's unique needs and preferences. There's no single approach that is right for everyone. And that's one reason why Alicia and I created Joyful Family Cooking, as a holistic perspective to feeding the family. We’re here to help you discover the ways in which your family can thrive, all while making your life easier. We’ll help you determine what inspires and motivates your family to take ownership in their feeding journey while stimulating autonomy and growth. We’re here to help you to teach them to cook and eat well, contribute to the community, and build healthy relationships with food for life.
Beyond what to make for dinner, we’ll help you get your children involved in meaningful and tangible ways, to help with shopping, cooking, and even cleaning up joyfully! Join Alicia and Elianna in an interactive community discussion to support you in figuring out what is right for your family.
